Risk Management Specialist (14 Month Contract)

SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for high to low severity bodily injury liability claims, property damage claims and product related claims. Efficient retention and transfer of claims, responding to third parties, insurer and legal representatives.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage, obtain, and analyze investigative material and evidence for all occurrences assigned
- Ensure the successful engagement, cooperation, participation, reporting, and effective completion of defense documentation with location managers and in support of other internal and external stakeholders
- Review contractual agreements, case law, and policies for assessment and claims handling decision
- Examine strategies for claim response and recommend retention or transfer, denial, settlement
- Settle, deny, transfer, escalate liability claims and build a defense file in preparation of litigation; provide necessary support to assigned adjusters and defense counsel
- Settle claims with plaintiffs, insurers, adjusters, and third parties within specified authority from Manager
- Substantiate and negotiate property claims working directly with at fault third parties or with the assigned third party administrators
- Review and update independent adjusters reports, defence counsels correspondence, initial opinions, discovery reports and furthers updates. Providing recommendations, comments and/or direction on a file when required
- Educate location managers, on claim programs, policies, and procedures for: reporting, investigation; litigation management; resolution/outcome management; and the delivery of claim information
- Ensure database integrity, accuracy with up to date details, reserves and claim status
- Supervise and lead the performance management of the Claims Administrator
- Monitor and analyze legal opinions, claims costs and exposures to identify trends and discover root causes
- Make recommendations on revised and new programs and procedures based on analysis. Involve implementation of new/revised programs
QUALIFICATIONS:
- College diploma or University studies
- 2 – 4 years liability, property claims working experience
- Presently working towards your CIP or CRM designation or has successfully completed your CIP or CRM designation
- Intermediate skills in MS Office, Outlook, and database applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
