This position is the link between the business and I.T. ensuring system solutions meet with the needs of the business.  This position is responsible for analyzing and providing system and process solutions to issues reported by the business units.  Further to this, the role includes the identification of root cause issues, working with the business and Metro I.T. on issue resolution.   This position will include the role of execution of projects and enhancements  for both system and business initiatives which will include training, communication and user support.                            
Specific Responsibilities  


  • Responsible for a technical and process knowledge of many areas of the business including but not limited to; merchandising, operations, store orders, replenishment and financial reporting and to provide technical or functional advice on impacts to overall goals of the organization based on this knowledge.                        
  • Acting as Super User of specific area of expertise to both the business and Metro IT.  This includes acting as the 2nd level support for system and process issues.                         
  • Analyzing and solving issues escalated by the business.  This includes complex analysis of data, determining root cause issues and working with Metro I.T. if the issue is system related.           
  • Analysis, development and implementation of business process aimed at increasing accuracy and efficiency within the business.                          
  • Creation and editing of technical documentation of complex nature.                          
  • Management of project execution of both technical and process driven initiatives.  This will include the creation of new business process to support business plans.   This may also include the management of temp resources as required.                        
  • Responsible for providing input into the department budget and ensuring budget goals are met.     




  • College diploma or University studies (certificate)                        
  • 5 – 7 years of relevant experience - grocery retail experience is an asset                        
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks and ability to set appropriate priority levels                        
  • Ability to analyze data including identifying issues and relationships within the data                        
  • Advanced ability to use Microsoft Excel                        
  • Working level of knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office is an asset                        
  • Travel to Montreal and/or Ottawa as necessary                         
  • Evening and weekend work as required including on call as necessary
