Summary:

Responsible for planning, developing and implementing strategic objectives and providing direction to DC operations (7x24) in order to achieve productivity service levels within a defined budget. Oversees all facility maintenance, receiving, storage, loading, selection and shipment of all warehouse product within the guidelines of the Collective Agreemen and other Company policies and procedures. Promotion and compliance of hygience, health and safety, Metro's core values and application of company policy, practices and procedures. Highly customer focused at all levels of the retail supply chain.

Specific Responsibilities:

 
  • Accountable for the promotion of company core values and policy.
 
  • Responsible for all DC operations including non-union and union workforce, promotion of, Centre employee/labour relations, hygiene, training, performance management and application of Company practices and procedures (including plant rules)
 
  • Development and implementation of strategic plans to ensuring accurate and efficient receiving, storage and shipment of product for assigned Distribution Centre.  Identify initiatives in line with Company’s Strategic vision and execute the delivery of such initiatives.
 
  • Responsible for the development of DC expense and budget guidelines covering all aspect of Centre operations including inventory, labour, service levels and the protection of all physical assets within the DC and monitoring and reporting weekly, period and quarterly results
 
  • Responsible for hiring, developing, motivating, retaining and performance management of direct reports to ensure the overall efficiency of all shifts and to provide support to the Management team in dealing with both non-union and union employees.
 
  • Accountable for developing and maintaining cross-functional relationships to maximize the effectiveness of internal processes.
 
  •  Responsible for reviewing and responding to all grievances and other Labour Relations issues, in accordance with the terms of the  Collective Bargaining Agreement  and Company policy
 
  • Responsible for the Health and Safety of the facility in accordance with legislation and company policy.
             
Qualifications      
 
  • 7-10 years of leadership experience within a unionized distribution environment.
 
  • College diploma and/or University degree. Equivalent combination of post-secondary education and directly related experience can be considered.  Specializing in business or supply chain management is an asset. 
 
  • Proven record of leading diverse teams towards achieving objectives through collaborative and participatory management practices. Strong ability to manage through delegation, engagement, and proper follow-up.
 
  • Ability to analyze business metrics and communicate targets and standards of performance which meet or exceed quality and profitability objectives.
 
  • Effectively develop distribution teams through coaching and mentoring.
 
  • Strong effective communication skills in a diverse multicultural environment. 
  • Strong analytical skills (Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Strong Organizational and tactical skills.
  • Ability to take initiative, strong work ethis, behaves with a sense of urgency.
  • Strong problem solving & decision making capabilities.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new situations, as well as new and changing processes, programs and services.
