A Supply Chain Intern at Metro Ontario is responsible for supporting the Logistics team in planning and optimizing functions in the supply chain, contributing with detailed definition of business requirements, design of distribution solutions, continuous improvement initiatives and analysis to support business strategies as well as supporting the stores and business services team. This is an exciting opportunity for an intern to support project management and execution of changes to supply chain to improve item availability, service levels, and reductions in total cost-to-serve. Projects can include distribution center capacity assessment, forecasting analytics as well as network optimization. The industrial engineering intern is responsible for data analysis, time studies, process mapping and KPI reporting through to presentation of solutions, mapping new processes and simulation of results.
Responsibilities
- Provide design and engineering support for new automated and existing operations, with focus on productivity improvement and maximizing return on capital investments
- Perform detailed analysis and research to conduct feasibility studies in support of the development of project business case analysis
- Build project requirements and manage the successful execution of a range of selected tactical projects in collaboration with stakeholders and cross functional teams
- Support the development of short and long-term planning including automated network design and optimization, warehouse cost modeling, and definition of DC requirements
- Support the Store and Business Services teams in root cause analysis and corrective measures execution
Qualifications
- Industrial Engineering/Supply Chain Management/Business undergraduate student (or equivalent)
- Ability to model operational problems
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
- Highly proficient PC skills including MS Excel, Access, Visio, and Project (an asset)
- Self-motivated, capable of managing multiple projects and strong data mining skills
- Moderate travelling between Ontario’s Distribution Center’s is needed and travel between Ontario and Quebec may be required
- Bilingual (an asset)
