Summary                        
The Manager of In-store Demonstrations & Events is responsible and accountable for Metro Ontario’s Commission-Based Sales/Demonstrations Program -Conventional & Discount Banners.  He/She contributes increases to Market Share and Profits through strategic focus, team orientation, leadership and strong execution of Product Sampling Programs and Events in Ontario Division Banner Stores. 
The Manager of In-store Demonstrations & Events is also responsible for the management of the assigned categories including: Lottery/ Prepaid Gift Cards / Western Union / Propane / Jacent / Coinstar.                 
                        
                        
Specific Responsibilities                        

  • Manages & Accountable for producing Annual Commissions effecting P&L through Ontario Division Corporate Demo program & Merchandising Services Categories.
  •  Responsible for Managing and achieving Annual Financial Targets                    
  • Accountable for meeting overall strategy, implementation & execution.                    
  • Develop sales and promotional strategies including advertising, theme events, seasonal opportunities in order to achieve category targets.                    
  • Responsible for defining product assortment and negotiating terms and conditions of purchase.                    
  • Create & Maintain promotional calendar to maximize sales and profits.                  
  • "Manages & Analyzes Merchandising Services to establish & maintain effectiveness of sku mix, space allocation, sales, profits and advertising effectiveness.  Manages discontinued maintenance with Category Administrators.
  • Develops & modifies plans within each Category to secure & increase Profit contributions & targets"                    
  • Modify category plans as needed to be responsive to customer needs.                    
  •  Monitors competitive and industry activities regarding Merchandising & Marketing to develop plans, programs & event strategies to optimize Program objectives & results for both Merchandising Services & Demonstration Programs. Use findings to support continuous improvement and innovation in the Category.                    
  • Complete regular category reviews in selected categories utilizing Dunnhumby, Nielsen and vendor data. Review regular retails as well as feature frequency and depth analysis. Manage strategies to ensure market competitiveness while balancing with financial targets.                 
  • Presents fact-based recommendations of areas requiring improvement, develops processes & procedures and implements related plans of action.  
  • Contributes to development of Supplier & Agency Contract with National Procurement for Ontario Division Merchandising Services Categories & Demo Program.                    
  • Negotiates costing with Internal & External teams, within determined Budget perimeters to provide win-win results and resolve any differences equitably.                    
  • Develops, manages, responsible & accountable for Demo Contracts to indemnify Corporate or Store Operations from liability and claims with respect to Sampling Programs or Events (internal & external).  Liaises with Corporate Legal Counsel and Manager-Risk, Insurance & Claims.                    
  • Manages, tracks & presents Period, Quarterly and Annual Results to Senior Management to support corporate objectives and initiatives                    
  • Maintain regular contact with Store Managers, Specialists, Merchandisers, Vendors and others to answer questions or resolve issues regarding products or services in assigned business initiatives.                    
  • Support & attend all Store Events; Grand Openings or Re-Openings                    
  • Responsible for all communication (internal & external) relative to National Brand, Private Label sampling Programs, Events & Merchandising Services Categories                    

                        
Qualifications                        

  •  3 to 5 years of pertinent Business experience in Retail or Food Industry (Sales & Merchandising experience an asset)                    
  •  University degree or Post Secondary Education in a business related field or Business Management                    
  •  Previous supervisory or management experience an asset.                     
  •  Strong Organizational, Project Management, Strategic Planning & Time-Management skills                    
  •  Excellent Negotiation skills with proven results                    
  •  Strong experience using the SAP Merchandising Module & BW                     
  •  Strong MS office and Computer skills, Intermediate to Advanced level knowledge of Excel                    
  •  Self-Management capability & ability to manage multiple projects meeting strict deadlines                    
  •  Must be Results-driven and Detailed-oriented.  Innovative & Customer-focused                    
  •  Excellent communication skills both oral & written                     
  •  Occasional travel required
