Summary: 

This position is responsible for coordinating and resolving fleet incidents and claims, retained or transferred, directly with third parties or with insurer.  This position will also be responsible for the handling of liability claims from third parties with respect to material damage, product related, vehicle, and reputation risk occurrences.  

 

Specific Responsibilities

  • Reviews assigned claims to ensure documentation is complete and accurate and follows up on missing information with relevant parties in order to process claim.
  • Obtains and reviews investigative materials and evidence to substantiate/dispute claim amounts, losses and damages.  
  • Recommends Company response to claims (retention, transfer, denial, settlement) and proceeds with determined approach.
  • Acts as a key contact on claims and coordinates communications between relevant parties in a timely manner.   
  • Settles claims within assigned authority.  Tracks and produces reports on claims and claims outcomes.
  • Ensures proper allocation of claims costs to appropriate business areas.
  • Assists the Risk Management Specialists on larger claims
  • Tracks and administers the Company’s insurance requirements including the policy renewal process; monitors required certificates of insurance (internal and external).
  • Maintains and updates department files, claims database, procedures and document centre; reconciles physical files and database status; reviews files to ensure adherence to statute of limitation and general accounting policy.   
  • Provides administrative assistance on project management including setting up and tracking task reports and providing reminders to team members.
  • Coordinates department meetings including preparing agenda and taking minutes.
  • Coordinates and administers all vehicle damage claims with relevant third parties.
  • Orders and replenishes office supplies, ensuring compliance with set budget.

 

Qualifications: 

  • College study (2 years).
  • 1 – 3 years relevant work experience.
  • Working towards Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) and/or Certified Risk Manager (CRM) designation is an asset.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws
  • Above average communication skills. 
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office
