Position Title: Senior Manager Construction

This position is responsible for managing the budget and execution of assigned Capital Plan projects to ensure the completion of these projects on time, on budget, and according to Company standards.                
Specific Responsibilities                
•    Organize the transfer of completed construction projects to Operations.            
•    Attend regular construction site meetings with assigned team to ensure all aspects of projects comply with Metro’s standards, contract, and schedule.            
•    Monitor project construction budgets and cost controls, ensuring parameters are met.   Advise appropriate parties of any discrepancies.             
•    Schedule major construction activities and equipment installation for multiple projects.            
•    Assign individual projects to Project Managers.             
•    Participate in contract tender process including closing, vendor selection process, subject to approval by senior management.             
•    Oversee the planning and scheduling of onsite activities to carefully minimize impact to store operations and sales.            
•    Maintain an excellent line of communication with Retail Operations.            
•    Prepare and monitor project cost summaries to ensure resources and manpower are sufficiently deployed.   Prepare monthly consolidations of costs for each project.            
•    Verify and approve Landlord’s work schedule/ Schedule C documentation, and environmental report revisions.   Direct assigned team on the respective action plan.            
•    Review and approve change orders to contracts, schedules and progress of projects.            
•    Provide detailed back up documentation to support progress draws for tenant allowances and cost sharing work with landlords and developers.            
•    Professional Engineering degree in building science is a requirement.            
•    5 –  7years of related work experience            
•    Experience in managing a professional team.            
•    In depth knowledge of estimating, building science and codes, construction methodology, and design planning principles and procedures.            
•    Experience in Construction Management in Grocery stores is an asset.            
•    In depth knowledge of Construction documentation retail construction techniques, and building systems.            
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.             
•    Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project.
