Role Summary:
This is a rare and unique opportunity to join Metro’s eCommerce team. This is a rapidly growing team that is critical to Metro’s future. 
The web merchandiser will play a key role in supporting Metro’s eCommerce website by helping grow sales, increasing customer conversions and maximizing profitability. This will be achieved through the optimization of promotions, product merchandising, onsite search, cross-selling, and upselling across all categories. Furthermore, the individual will also focus on enhancing the shopping experience through the different promotions and themes while identifying opportunities / partnerships for the valuation of products. 


Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and execute the web merchandising program to promote key categories and products: create cross-sell opportunities, select featured products, execute theme-based seasonal and personalized promotional offers
  • Responsible for the development, maintenance execution of the promotional eCommerce merchandising calendar
  • Cross functional collaboration with Merchandising, Planning, Marketing and eCommerce teams to develop web merchandising initiatives
  • Optimizing the shopping experience through a customer lens 
  • Bringing the store merchandising strategy to life digitally
  • Utilize sales data, website metrics, consumer research and competitive intelligence to facilitate the purchase of products, boost sales and maximize profitability
  • Maximize the outreach of the banner's commercial program
  • Responsible for the performance, tracking and reporting of web merchandising initiatives
  • Involved in negotiations with suppliers to stimulate investment in eCommerce
  • Contribute in defining requirements for the improvement of the eCommerce platform


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in administration, marketing or e-commerce related field or equivalent work experience
  • 3 + years in a web merchandising position
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Expert knowledge of Google Analytics / AdWords
  • Must have a collaborative spirit, keen sense of organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to think analytically with strong problem-solving skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Office knowledge
  • Knowledge of the food/retail environment is an asset
  • Bilingual – French and English preferred (spoken and written)
