Position Title: Assistant Technical Planner

This position is repsonsible for the planning process for assigned projects and programs within the Company’s capital plan in conjunction with the banner Planner and colleagues from other relevant departments.


Specific Responsibilities:


  •  Manages the signage approval process from design to implementation for all banner projects
  •  Manages the LandLord approval process for all banner projects
  •  Assist the Planner in managing the pharmacy capital plan program for all banners
  •  Manages all 3rd party tenant projects typically Starbucks, Tim Hortons, Nescafe, LCBO, Wine Rack, Wine Shop, Nature Signature, Dry Cleaners and Banks
  •  Manages planning for garden centre and small office projects
  •  Follow-up on budgets and schedules for each assigned project
  •  Review construction and equipment estimates to ensure they respect the project scope of work, and predetermined budgets
  •  Updates and maintains Metro owned properties and tenant portfolio binders
  •  Visit all project locations of assigned program to determine project objectives with clients and analyze site conditions and limitations
  •  Commission and obtain as founds, cordinate and provide building audit reports working with various departments and complete pre project existing site conditions
  •  Assists Manager Technical Engineering and Estimating with project related work
  •  Participate in various strategic planning meetings




  •  College diploma or University studies (certificate) in Architecture Technology or another related field
  •  3-5 years of experience in project planning or project management, preferable in the retail sector
  •  Must have an intermediate knowledge of the Windows PC environment with CAD and MS Project skils and advantage
  •  Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are required
  •  Effective negotiating skills
  •  Ability to multi task, remain organized maintain efficiencies
  •  Knowledge of a professional environment
  •  Priority management and autonomy
