Pharmacy Services Technician (16 month Contract)

SUMMARY:
The Pharmacy Services Specialist is responsible for various Business Development initiatives including, but not limited to, first level support of the pharmacy website and dispensary software data, version testing, reporting and price structures to maximize profit and dispensary margins. Secondary functions include maintenance of the prescription plan-o-grams, including product assortment, pricing and adherence to regulatory guidelines, and recall record keeping in accordance with Health Canada, and assisting in the development and maintenance of Pharmacy training programs and utilization.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
- directly to the incumbent: Manager, Pharmacy Productivity & Analytics
- indirectly to the incumbent: Director, Pharmacy Operations and Director, Pharmacy Services
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- First level support for Kroll data issues
- First level support for pharmacy scanner issues
- Liaison between Metro pharmacies, Kroll support and Metro IT
- Liaison between Metro pharmacies and Kohl & Frisch
- Liaison between Metro pharmacies and Metro IT IVR team
- Kroll version QA testing
- Maintenance of insurance plan, pricing structures and store configuration data using Kroll Central Maintenance tool
- Various reporting to Pharmacy, Finance and Metro Sr. Management
- First level customer support for Metro’s pharmacy website
- Assist with various pharmacy and systems projects as required
- Assist with third party reconciliation reporting
- Maintenance of the BTC drug plan-o-gram using SAP
- Assist with the maintenance of the Metro Generic Formulary
- Assist Pharmacy Operations team with follow-up on delinquent drug recall reporting
- Maintain corporate documentation for audit purposes for all recalls including Type I in accordance with Health Canada
- Responsible for the maintenance of Pharmacy documents and web links on the intranet
- Absence or vacation coverage for the Pharmacy Executive Assistant/Co-coordinator and Pharmacy Business Development Specialist
- Assist in the development and maintenance of the pharmacy training programs and education
- Assist with the development, implementation and monitoring of pharmacy productivity programs
- Assist with analyzing market prescription pricing data and maintaining store level Kroll data to maximize profit

EFFORT AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Independent: Ability to work with little or no supervision
- Confidentiality: Ability to work with confidential financial and customer information
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum College Pharmacy Technician diploma or equivalent education or equivalent experience
- Communication – Effective written and verbal communication. Ability to communicate with internal and external resources to accomplish assigned tasks
- Organizational - Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks concurrently. Ability to understand and utilize the formal and informal decision – making structure within the company to get things accomplished at store level
- Operations Knowledge – general knowledge of store operations
Intermediate PC Skills – Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, SAP PRD/BW, and expert knowledge of KROLL Computer Systems required
- Resourceful – Ability to locate and obtain relevant information in a timely manner. Such information can include operational, consumer, market research and vendor information
- Self-starter – Strong ability to initiate action quickly to react to issues, obstacles and unique situations involving store operations, safety, employee relations and other store objectives
- Experience – Minimum 3 years retail pharmacy experience required; experience developing and implementing pharmacy training programs preferred; experience QA testing pharmacy management systems preferred.
